Do you have any plans for the weekend? The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is going to be celebrated the next two weekends and it will have a great selection of free concerts and additional activities that you should not miss.
Besides, it’s worth mentioning that free music workshops and master classes for children will be available. Therefore, an event of this magnitude continues to enhance the cultural life on the North Coast.
The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival 2019 Program
If there is something that characterizes the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival, it is the variety of groups and artists that perform every year. Thus, promoting music and culture in the DR.
This year, it will be featuring the participation of national and international jazz musicians and singers, with the “Tribute to Jazz in Latin-America” theme. Hence, this version will involve 12 groups, including Miguel Zenón, Jane Bunnett & Maqueque, and the charismatic José Alberto “El Canario.”
The festival is sponsored by FEDUJAZZ and the Tourism Ministry, among other entities. Whether you are located in Santiago, Puerto Plata, Sosúa, or Cabarete, you will be able to enjoy the DR Jazz Festival, from October 25th to November 3rd.

The concert tour begins on October 25th, with the FEDUJAZZ Assembly, Penbiang Sang, Arturo O’Farrill from the United States, and the Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble. The location will be the León Cultural Center in Santiago at 8:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the program will continue in Puerto Plata, on October 26th, with the documentary “Solano” at 6:00 p.m. at the Rafael Solano Auditorium at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo(UASD). Rafael Solano is a famous pianist, composer, and writer from Puerto Plata. Besides, Jochy y sus 4 Jazz will be delighting you with his beautiful jazz songs.
On November 1st, at 8:00 p.m., the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival 2019 will arrive in the fantastic town of Sosúa. During this time, it will have the participation of BGJI, Nando Michelin, from Uruguay, and the Dominican Jazz Project, who will be performing at Playa Alicia.
Besides, it will feature fashion designer Sissy Bermúdez with a pre-concert parade named “Mothers with Sissy.” A pro-fundraising fashion runway, in which mothers accompanied by their children, will be parading.
Although the DR Jazz Festival shows will be free and open to the public, there are VIP tickets and priority seating available at a cost. All money raised from VIP ticket sales and other activities will go to the FEDUJAZZ foundation.
Cabarete beach will have two nights of Jazz concerts. On November 2nd at Cabarete Beach with the presentations of the Dominican pianists Josean Jacobo, Justin Kauflin Trio from the United States, and Miguel Zenón from Puerto Rico, starting at 8:00 p.m.
Subsequently, on November 3rd, the DR Jazz Festival will finish with the music of Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors, Jane Bunnett & Maqueque, from Canada and Cuba. Finally, the festival will close with the talented Jose Alberto “El Canario”, who will invade the stage with its harmonious melodies.
